NBA stars Michael Jordan, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul, Kevin Durant, LeBron James and Dwyane Wade taught kids basketball drills and spoke about their love of basketball to the youth at the event. There were spoken word, dance and musical performances, including a concert by Jay-Z, which he closed the show out with “Empire State of Mind” with a mystery girl singing the hook. In support of World Aids Day, Alicia Keys will be performing live on YouTube at 8:00 p.m. EST. Proceeds from the concert will benefit Keys’ charity “Keep A Child Alive.” During the concert, she is expected to announce a contest that will allow five people to join her on a five day trip to Africa. Fans will be able to enter the contest for $5 (which will be donated to “Keep A Child Alive”) via a text or online at the foundation’s web site.

Alicia Keys is the co-founder and global ambassador of Keep a Child Alive, a nonprofit organization that’s dedicated to providing care and support services to children and families whose lives have been affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa and India.

Keys has visited Kenya, Uganda, and South Africa as well as other areas of Africa to help those impacted by HIV/AIDS.  She visited orphanages, home to many children who’ve lost their parents to the virus.

Keys’ work in Africa was filmed for a documentary called Alicia in Africa: Journey to the Motherland. Keys’ interview with NBC’s Lester Holt was featured on the Nightly News segment, “Making a Difference” on Nov. 10.
